29/12/14 My Perfect Wedding

Hi Cherubs

I'm so excited to finally show you my gorgeous wedding photos and talk about the day and all the little details that made it so special to us.

On the 25th December 2012 Darius got down on one knee and asked me to marry him, of course I thought he was having a laugh and I ruined the moment, but eventually I said yes! (you can count on me to ruin romance ha)
At that time we didn't have the money to get married so were happy enough just being engaged! Many of you know Darius moved away to San Francisco for 7 months last year, we missed each other A LOT! So when he eventually came home in September 14 we decided lets just bloody do it! We planned the wedding for 3months time, because we love stress and we wanted a winter wedding!

The venue - The Ashes - Perfect converted old barns surrounded by rolling green hills (or in our case snowy hills) in the middle of nowhere (Leek, Staffordshire) Two barns one for the ceremony and one for the Wedding reception. I wanted something a little different and somewhere I could put my own stamp on!

The dress - Handmade by Sarah Willard - This was the most important thing for me, I didn't just want to pick a dress off the hanger as I already had some ideas of what I wanted, this is where Sarah came in, her shop/studio is based in Eccleshall, Staffordshire near to both of our families. I loved Sarah's vintage inspired dresses, she uses the most delicious fabrics and adds gorgeous finishing touches like hand embroidery. My dress is everything I imagined and more, I felt so elegant on the day.

The shoes - Valentino, need I say anymore?

The hair - I would like to thank Sassoon Salon for colouring and cutting my hair before the day, my colour looked amazing! My friends styled my hair and the bridesmaids hair on the day, I wanted a whimsical loose style for everyone, we all had something different and we all looked incredible ha!

The bridesmaids dresses - Ok, since I was having a winter wedding I wanted all white everything! But I wanted my girls to feel comfortable in their dresses, so I let them pick a dress with a budget in mind and also a few buzz words like, embroidery, lace, cutwork and beading. I wanted all different textures, I'm so thrilled with how we all look together. The dresses were bought from ASOS, Boden, Urban Outfitters and House of Fraser.

The groom - Darius picked out a swish tailored Paul Smith suit which he looked amazing in, he also picked some Loake brogues.

The flowers - Sean Hirst flowers - Sean owns a gorgeous floristry and homeware shop in Eccleshall a few doors down from Sarah Willard. I saw Seans work before and fell in love with his style and passion, I knew he would put together something a little different than your average bouquet. We went for textures and different shades of white, the end result is stunning, with added beading and buttons which were also used on my dress. Utter perfection.

The cake - Since the wedding is in Staffordshire and all, I wanted a Wedgwood style cake. I just adore the Wedgwood blue colour with white detailing.

The decor, My best friends and I did all the decor, our idea was to have lots of glass, gold and flowers. We sourced lots of glassware and bell jars, quirky pineapple shaped jars, and we went a little wild with the gold spray. We also made A LOT of pom poms! I love how all the tables looked, and I'm so pleased we did it all ourselves, it just makes it extra special!

Thanks to Catherine Dineley for the amazing photos!

Well thats the Wedding post done, what do you think?

Love Sarah
