Second trimester update | Baby girl number 2!

Hi Cherubs!

Second trimester is done! I have around 11 weeks to go now which seems so crazy and a little scary to me right now but there is never a perfect time for a baby so might as well just get on with it lol. Overall this trimester has been pretty mundane and easy going and for that I am thankful but adding a toddler into the mix definitely makes it more interesting and tiresome. Right lets get into all the nitty gritty!

Selfcare, fitness and diet.

Right I'm gonna start off with fitness, I have only worked out a hand full of times this trimester but I have been doing daily walks with Mina and trying to hit 10,000 steps daily... sometimes I do it easily and then other times you'll find me doing laps of the apartment before bed to see if I can hit my target. I've definitely put less pressure on myself this time around with my work outs as its just not feesable with a toddler and being her primary caregiver day in and day out. Instead I just opt for things we can do together which has worked out great. My weight gain has been slow and steady, my doctor is so pleased this time around. All in all I've put on 12lbs so far this pregnancy and my goal is 25lbs in total and I think I can do it.
In terms of diet I've been as healthy as possible... I get biweekly Daily Harvest deliveries of delicious plant based smoothies and harvest bowls which I have for my lunches and for dinners I've been really into salads and adding a few naughty sides like onion rings but balance!
No cravings apart from sparkling water this time around which has probably helped my slow and steady weight gain. I feel pretty content with how my diet and fitness is going so far.
Since my husband and I are turning 30 pretty soon we have booked in a spa day in a few weeks time and I am so excited for my prenatal massage. I enjoyed it so much last pregnancy and it helped so much with all the aches and pains my body is soon going to feel with the final trimester.
I haven't noticed any new stretch marks this time around which obvs I'm happy to report. I've been using a few things I thought I'd mention which I absolutely love and have repurchased throughout this pregnancy.

Mind and Body - How I'm feeling?

Lets start with hormones! Pregnancy does some crazy things but the hormones can be so intense sometimes. Overall I feel pretty happy but I am super sensitive and will cry easily. I also get irritated quickly too, its just another of those pleasant symptoms your loved ones have to put up with for a few months.
My pregnancy with Mina I had so many back problems by this point probably due to the weight gain lets be honest but this time around I feel great. My back twinges sometimes if Mina is being clingy and wants me to pick her up constantly.. I've learnt to say no to her and deal with her crying at me for a few minutes until she finds a new distraction. The last few weeks of my second trimester have been a little annoying with having a stomach bug and then a never ending cold... I still have it now going on 2.5 weeks. I've lost a bit of weight due to being sick but I'm slowly getting my appetite back and I'm sure I'll make up for what I lost. My recent blood work showed I was anemic which is annoying and probably explains my lack of energy. Im taking some supplements now so fingers crossed that sorts its self out.
Overall feeling great though!

Preparing for baby!

Oh its so different this time around and way less expensive haha. I haven't had to buy too many things as we have everything we could possibly need and more. I've bought a few summer newborn and 0-3 clothing since my babies will be born in opposite seasons. I haven't had to decorate a nursery this time as I'm planning on the baby sharing with Mina when she's old enough. I did buy a bassinet stand for our Uppababy bassinet just because its easy to move around and I don't see the point of buying a separate bassinet when our stroller system came with one. Small apartment hacks!
I've sorted through Mina's old clothes and everything is washed and ready, I actually really enjoyed doing this. It was nice seeing the tiny baby clothes again and getting to reuse it too. The only things I really have to buy this time is diapers but I have plenty of time for that.
Since we live over 5000 miles from home without any help from our close friends and family we've made some plans ahead of delivery so someone will be here to look after Mina. We've booked flights for my sister who is so hands on with Mina and basically worships her. We wanted family mainly because I found it too stressful trying to find a nanny and also I think its better for Mina to be with someone she trusts and knows. My sister is gonna love looking after her on her own for a few days.
I will be having a scheduled c-section this time around since I had an unplanned one previous. I'm pretty sure it will be scheduled for 39 weeks so it takes some of the guess work out and means we've been able to plan my sisters visit. Obviously baby girl could come anytime from 37 weeks I pray she stays put till my sister arrives though but we will deal with that if we have to.
11 weeks to go 😬

I hope you've enjoyed this update!
